Why Stephen Curry is The Most Influential Player Since Michael Jordan [HD]

The title of this video is going to surprise many of you. That's part of the reason I have been hesitant to upload it...but I can't wait anymore.
I'm not saying Stephen Curry is better than Jordan. We all know that MJ is the greatest to ever play the game. I'm saying that Steph has become the role model and icon to the game of basketball (and culture surrounding it) the same way that MJ did when he came on the scene. I hope you enjoy this video.

  • What about Iverson? Ankle-breaking became a big deal b/c of him.

  • someone else that gets it....me and my boy have been saying this. I even go a step further tho to say from a skill set I believe he actually is the 2nd best player I've seen behind MJ. Besides kobe he's the only player I've seen since MJ that actually makes the game look easy.

  • NFL had to change the game to help the offense because of all the lawsuits of concussions and all the studies brought to the media about how hits to the head can cause detrimental damage for your long-term health because of concussion syndrome. NBA had to change the game because of Allen Iverson embracing hip hop, many people felt that NBA image was bad due to players wearing earrings, baggy jeans, fitted caps, durags, etc and Ron Artest brawl in the Palace was the nail in the coffin for the NBA to change the rules & the mentality of the NBA. The rule changes allowed flopping, hard nose physical defense was banned, no handchecking at all, no fighting & zone defense being allowed. The new rule changes allowed floor spacers like Curry to dominant & players who play 1 on 1 inefficient bball players to not be dominant. Back then 1 on 1 players was the norm & Curry couldnt get his shot off the way he did & had to go off the dribble at times, even Reggie Miller wasnt the main option really, the Pacer played inside first wit Rick Smits, Dale Davis & Antonia Davis before they went to Miller & Miler didnt have da space to launch 3s like dat, watch the 98 playoffs vs Bulls & how difficult it was for Miller to even get da ball in dat tight halfcourt game wit no way to get open for a 3. Curry is the most revolutionary player that changed the game but my question is: "Should Steph Curry be one of the greats if he cant fit in any era & can only fit in 1 specific era?"

  • You probably will want to look at the impact that Larry Bird and Dirk had on the 3 pointer. Larry because he promoted the 3 pointer and Dirk because he was the first 7 footer taken 3 pointers on a consistent basis. Larry Bird had a commercial where he was shooting 3 pointers. You might also want to look at a graph of the increase of 3 points taken in the NBA. This was happening way before 2012, Steph is just able to shoot from 30 instead of 25.

  • This video has aged well so far. Lebron the better player but this is the era of Steph Curry teams had to adjust their game plans to deal with the style of ball he brought to the table.

  • The thing that I hear is all the guys you mentioned are guards, small guys. Not like Lebron or Shaq who are large and powerful and unstoppable with their bodies. My friend always says that people like Steph because they see that even if they're normal average size, not overly muscular people, that they could still do what he does. Same with Jordan, same with Kobe.

    lemur918lemur9183 yil oldin
    • +lemur918 That's what makes a player like Stephen Curry so relatable and that's also why so many kids will look up to him, like they did Iverson or Jordan. The difference is Curry plays a game that essentially anyone feels they can achieve. You don't have to be born a freak athlete or super fast, you just have to be willing to put in the work on skills. • You must have never seen a young Reggie miller then because he's been doing this type of thing. Now LeBron is a once and a lifetime player, we will never see another player like him. Also you said things that can be said about other athletes, Kobe's work ethic is legendary other NBA players will tell you that, from the shoe standpoint it all comes down to marketing people are buying his shoes because he's marketable to the family values kind of people, so they'll get them for their kids and stuff. Personally its a great concept but its hardly from a basketball perspective a, If it was you can never make this argument lets talk about defense or the total package that mike had he wasn't bad at anything on that court, Curry is very one dimensional and we saw in not just the finals but a lot of games curry failed to show up and when you take his three away he provides little to no production, he reminds me of Melo in a sense at times.

    Ryan RuckerRyan Rucker4 yil oldin
    • @Ryan Rucker its just like, when you remove lebron, mj, kobe's skills what else does they give you? lmao curry is a good passer, great court vision and great basketball IQ he can defend too (tho he's not an elite defender but he can defend)

  • Curry has definitely have a great impact in the game like Jordan but no one will have the impact Jordan ever did to the game of ball. He made it mainstream worldwide and expanded his brand worldwide as well. He was the one that made basketball a world sport in the game today so that's why no one can compare at least with the cultural impact Jordan has done. Now it is similar with Curry and Jordan with how they changed the game but globally I don't think Curry will change the game like Jordan did.

    Ryan BRyan B4 yil oldin
    • I disagree Jordan did nothing really new with the game. He was just super competitive and won a lot and that’s what made him so popular around the world. Curry is doing something we’ve never seen before. Curry actually changed the way the game is played not Jordan...not sure how you came to this conclusion that Jordan “changed” the game globally. He made it more popular

  • ppl dont go out and try to play like lebron because most people arent 6'9 280lb with the athleticism of a NFL cornerback.

    • No because Lebron basically does stuff and plays like MJ sure he does some stuff different but these guys created different styles of playing u can't say that much about that stuff with Lebron but Lebron is still probably the best right now but steph still the coolest to watch and the one most of them like and want to be like

    • +Pablo Parra Exactly. I was talking about how other players want to play like Curry, the same way they wanted to emulate Kobe and AI. This doesn't mean LeBron isn't a great player, but his skillset is near impossible to copy unless you are as strong and athletic as him...not to mention it isn't as attractive to young players as the mixtape style that Iverson and Curry play with. Thanks for watching!

    • we are talking about style. mj has style people wanna imitate and have, like AI, Kobe etc... very aesthetic players. I think he talks about this.

  • You're right on the money on this one. I have explained to the critics that the impact he has had on the league and the world, makes watching basketball fun again. He has that competitive fire within him that separates him from the rest but compares to MJ and Kobe when it comes to hes work ethic. Always trying to improve on hes game and not like other players that make it and its good enough for them. He'll have a superb career by the end of it all, we are witnessing greatness at the making every chance we watch him play, just like we did with Jordan!
