If you've paid attention to the hoops world at all over the past few years, you don't need an introduction to LaMelo Ball. The youngest of the three Ball brothers, we've watched Melo grow up from a highly criticized young prospect into one of the top players available in the 2020 NBA Draft. His playmaking ability and big play confidence makes him a sure fan-favorite for any franchise, but does he have what it takes to help lead a team at the game's highest level? Today we're gonna end the hype, and take a look at the game of the most promising, and controversial, player this class has to offer.

  • I just wanna highlight how well you put this together. Without demeaning his father, or comparing him to his brother, choosing instead to keep it about his game in a purely objective manner. More of this y’all!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • So what are his flaws

    Cam SchnitzerCam Schnitzer6 kun oldin
    • I cover them in the video but his flaws are mainly losing focus/not putting full effort into the defensive end when he needs to, and the need to be smarter with his shot selection. Thanks for watching!

    • Fr i really think he can have a trae young/luka/ja type rookie season if he gets put in the right position. 6'8 elite vision, great in transition and pick n roll situations. His game is perfect for today's nba

      TriceTrice3 oy oldin
  • You've given him far too much credit. I believe in the shooting coming but his PnR numbers are that impressive (0.66ppp). Also, his defense is worse than horrible. NBA runs multiple screens and he doesn't move through them. Defensively he is a sieve. Secondly, are you from NY?

    Mr SteezeMr Steeze4 oy oldin
    • Mr Steeze if he goes to the Knicks maybe a coach like thibs will be able to get him on track defensively, individually melo may never become a stopper but as a team defender I think thibs can help mold him. Also, with good defenders on the wing with RJ and Frank along with a beast of a rim protector in Mitchell Robinson maybe that’ll help subside the liability that melo can be on the defensive end.

    • @Trice you and I on different pages man. I really don't care about the offcourt stuff. Of all people I've spoken to, and there has been many, your the only one talking about money generated off the court. My goodness. Thanks for your input dude. Thanks for the video too.

      Mr SteezeMr Steeze4 oy oldin
    • @Mr Steeze You asked why his ceiling is so high and I told you. Whether or not you want to hear about the business side of the game, it's always a factor. Regardless, he has plenty to offer on the court and there's a reason scouts are saying he's got the most star potential in the draft. He's a high risk-high reward prospect.

      TriceTrice4 oy oldin
    • I'm really not interested in the revenue dude since I have no ownership in that part of the game. His passing far outweighs his other weaknesses. There's too much there to work on to be taken at 1. Might take him at 4-10. Can't bank on 1-3.

      Mr SteezeMr Steeze4 oy oldin

  • People be like, this is the best and most unbiased breakdown. If true, that’s sad. Melo’s defensive instincts are the worst I have ever seen from someone so hyped up. His shooting form is atrocious and has been inconsistent at every level. His athleticism is below average for someone his age and height. There’s a reason he avoids contact at the rim. He’s physically weak and lacks explosive power. The only thing Melo does well is pass the ball. I’m not convinced he will do this at an elite NBA level. He reminds me of a much lesser version of Jayson Williams.

    Jason WeissJason Weiss4 oy oldin
    • He will do it in the nba regardless just stfu you know nuttin about melo kmt

      TRILL PLAYDIRTYTRILL PLAYDIRTY3 oy oldin
    • Hater alert. Melo has shown the ability to score consistently and if not then distribute the basketball and put his teammates in better positions to score. His shooting is questionable but he has shown the ability to make shots beyond the arc. His shooting form needs work but that has a lot to do with footwork. Defense... well we’ve seen his defense. He’s very incomplete but even still shows to be a very valuable player. He hasn’t made it this far on hype alone. Hes gone against almost every type of comp. He’ll do well or i guess we’ll see

  • He gives me luka doncic vibes. Just not as strong (yet) and a little quicker. Maybe a little more defensive potential, too

    Caleb CrowellCaleb Crowell4 oy oldin
    • @D La Rock lmao i said he gave me luka vibes. As in the way he plays. I never said he would be a HOFer. Although I think it's possible. It's also possible that he never learns how to take a good shot and that his over dribbling makes him a liability if he can't play defense, and that he's out of the league in 5 years. Although I think the first is more likely

      Caleb CrowellCaleb Crowell3 oy oldin
    • @D La Rock lol there have been plenty of stars who don't play defense *cough* James Harden *cough* that haven't gotten their coach fired (I'm not saying he's harden, just that defense isn't valued as much in today's league. And lamelo's defensive upside is still there, he's not trae young bad

      Caleb CrowellCaleb Crowell3 oy oldin
    • @D La Rock i think he's shown a lot more maturity since going to the NBL. He's shown that he really just cares about basketball. I do expect him to get a lot of big booty IG bitches though. He's lamelo 🤷‍♂️

  • We have seen this story, his brother was the same , hyped as the best playmaker after his UCLA season, Lamelo played in some unknown league, not as proven as his brother, running up and down playing like Magic but never seen him bringing the W, i can't believe you guys will fall for this again, he is far from proven to be ale to handle NBA defense and quickness, not to mention his defense, smh.

    • @Terry Crowley He just hating

      Foster CovertFoster Covert4 oy oldin
    • @Simon Liu average? Yeah maybe from someone that only looks at points. He is already one of, if not the best defensive point guards in the game. Easily the best outlet passer, one of top couple rebounding point guards in the game, shooting almost 40% from 3. Like wtf are you talking about?

      Terry CrowleyTerry Crowley4 oy oldin
    • You just need to stop talking hoops, cuz you are beyond clueless. Zo is a stud, and melo is gonna be the biggest star in the game with zion for the next decade.

      Terry CrowleyTerry Crowley4 oy oldin
    • Simon Liu you dumb fr

      Benz 29Benz 294 oy oldin
    • Lonzo is an average player in the NBA, no dispute about that, so he definitely not a 2nd pick in the draft, so as lamelo, definitely not a top pick in a draft, don't be absurd.

      Simon LiuSimon Liu4 oy oldin
  • I knew he wud b a 1st rd pick n 2017

    Trent CallowayTrent Calloway4 oy oldin
    • Same here. All my buddys been saying im crazy. They finally are coming around to realizing lonzo is a stud. It wont be long and they will have to admit the same about melo. He will be even more of a superstar than lonzo cuz he has more flare. Gelo will even be a solid bench player sooner than later as well. Guaranteed.

    Arnas GudaitisArnas Gudaitis4 oy oldin
    • Arnas Gudaitis plus of course lamelo is going to beat these guys off the dribble and put back tip dunks...he not even that athletic and was usually one of the most athletic on the court in the nbl...in college playing against young guys that's faster or just as fast as him side by side and way more athletic...I want to see that...nbl guys don't have nba aspirations...college guys do...they hungrier than nbl player plus way harder to contend with

Do some research guys!

    • The nba will make damn sure the knicks get melo. They certainly wouldnt want his popularity to waste away in detroit or minnesota.

      Terry CrowleyTerry Crowley4 oy oldin
    • U are crazy. Melo is the most popular high school prosepect ever. I guess if your golden state that doesnt matter much cuz they already fill the seats. But if its det, the knicks, wolves, its melo hands down. In the end the nba is a business, and melo will bring people to the game, he will help sell the team internationally cuz of his huge foreign following and he is at the very least gonna be decent. Not many bigs can bring fans to the game on a losing team. But a flashy, popular player like melo, will fill the arena even on a shitty team.

      Terry CrowleyTerry Crowley4 oy oldin
    • Arnas Gudaitis just shutup.

      TraëTraë4 oy oldin
    • @Arnas Gudaitis Don't get me wrong, I feel like LaMelo is gonna be one of the best players in this draft, but Wiseman fits Golden State perfect. He gives them an athletic big man that they've been missing. Think of how good they made JaVale McGee look just off lobs over the help man.
